A few days ago I had the pleasure of photographing Interactive Media Specialist, Dennis. Dennis needed a nice black and white portrait for the web, so we got together last Monday to take some photos. I started out using my bulky studio lights, but ended up switching them off in favor of the natural light coming in through the window to his right. This allowed me to throw more of the image out of focus, pulling the viewer's attention to his eyes. The end result were these moody black and white images and both Dennis and I were more than pleased with the outcome.

Today I had one of my first family portrait sessions since graduation! The Timmermans and I have been trying to set up a shoot all summer but scheduling issues kept coming up that just wouldn’t let it happen. Well today the stars finally aligned and we were able to squeeze some shots in during the kids’ hour-long dinner break from work. Thanks to some heavy pre-production planning with my assistant Rikki and an incredibly cooperative family, we managed to make a great portrait in about 15 minutes’ time!
